On Camp Rockbrook stationery (red cardinal cresting):

ROCKBROOK

Camp for Girls

BREVARD, N.C.

Dear Grandmother,

I am looking forward to come and visit you when I get out of camp. I am having a good time at camp. Last night we had some skits. Each cabin received a bag with a few little things in it. My [cabin] made [ours] like a dentist office. The counselors judged and we won second place.

See you soon!

Love,

Nancy

P.S. Phone me because I can not phone you. Visit me on a Saturday.

AI Notes

A single sheet of Camp Rockbrook stationery written in blue ballpoint pen in a young girl’s round hand. The letterhead at the top center bears a red cardinal perched on a branch above the printed legend “ROCKBROOK / Camp for Girls / BREVARD, N.C.” The letter is from “Nancy” (Nancy Fletcher McEwan, granddaughter of the compiler Amy FitzSimons) to her grandmother, describing camp activities — Nancy’s cabin built their skit as a mock dentist’s office and won second place. Continues on the verso (page 234) with a single pencilled line, “Come Friday on parents Day.” The signature reads “Love, Nancy” with the P.S. wrapping in the lower margin and an “over” cue at the bottom right pointing to the verso pencil note on page 234. Nancy (b. 13 Sept 1946) would have been of camp age in the mid-to-late 1950s.

A small “over” written in the lower right corner directs the reader to the pencilled note on the verso, page 234.
