Book 1, Page 647 ·1826–1957
Transcription
A loose sheet mounted to the album page, filled edge-to-edge with a hand-drawn pencil descendant chart connecting the Perry, FitzSimons, Walker, and McEwan branches.
Upper-right marginal note (in pencil, in the compiler’s hand):
the 3rd m[arried] — Col. Wm. Fuller of Beaufort being the 3rd husband.
Top row (Perry generation — matriarch with three husbands):
[Edw’d?] Perry — m.
HarrietMaria Ann Mauger (née Hedley)
[The first name of “Perry” is clipped by the trimmed left edge of the loose sheet; only “—rd Perry” is visible, suggesting an abbreviated “Edwd.” (Edward) or “Richd.” (Richard). The strike-through “Harriet” is the compiler’s own self-correction to “Maria Ann”; her third husband, per the upper-right note, was Col. Wm. Fuller of Beaufort.]
Below — children of Maria Ann Hedley + her Perry husband:
Benjamin Dunkin Perry — m. Julia
DessallieuBezalieu [orange highlighter slash through the struck word] Roda — m. Andrew Crawford [orange highlighter slash]
[Two near-identical French-looking surnames appear stacked, the lower one struck through; the compiler may have been uncertain about the spelling of Julia’s surname.]
Next row (FitzSimons generation):
Mary Anne [Perry] — B. July 14th 1859 Gaillard m. Samuel FitzSimons — B. Jan 8th 1854 D. Mar 16 1930 B. Dec. 29th 1826 D. Oct 16th 1930
[siblings / collateral relatives written across the row:] Elizabeth Howell William Coffin Dunkin Drayton — Jane Miller
[The dual sets of birth/death dates apply to the two FitzSimons figures listed — Samuel Gaillard FitzSimons Sr. (b. 28 Dec 1856) and his wife Mary Anne Perry “Minnie” (d. Jan 1934). Some dates on the chart are at odds with other sources in the album; the chart should be cross-checked against pp271 / 629 / 463.]
Third row (the seven FitzSimons siblings — children of Samuel Gaillard Sr. + Mary Anne Perry):
Amy Perry — m. James P. Walker Theodore Barker — m. (Clara Mather) Minnie [= Mary Annie FitzSimons] — m. (Donald Allston) Samuel Gaillard [Jr.] — m. Mary Hodge
[Spouses written on the line below — Clara Mather (i.e. Clara Hamilton Mueller, T. B. FitzSimons’s wife) and “Donald Allston” (Donald McKay Allston Sr., Mary Annie’s husband).]
Fourth row (the great-grandchildren of Samuel Gaillard Sr.):
[Walker children, of Amy + J. P. Walker:] Amy Perry — James Pickens — Emma Dee — Mary Ann
[Theodore Barker FitzSimons’s children:] Theodore Barker — Mathew — Anne Sabina — Amy — William Huger
[Mary Annie + Donald McKay Allston’s children:] Amy — Amarinthia — Donald
[Samuel Gaillard Jr.'s children:] Sam — Mary Ann (m. Ted McLean) — Grace
Lower section — descent through Mary Ann Walker (compiler’s daughter):
James Pickens Walker m. Ann Seymour Knight
Emma Dee Walker — m. — Dr. Robert L. Corbell (children:) Robert — Pickens — Dee
Mary Ann Walker — m. — Oswald Beverly McEwan (children:) Christopher — Nancy — James
AI Notes
A loose buff-coloured sheet pinned/mounted to the album page, completely covered with a hand-drawn pencil descendant chart in the compiler’s hand. Names are linked by drawn lines and bracketing marks; some names sit over erasures or earlier abandoned readings. Two short orange highlighter strokes mark the lines through ‘Dessallieu’ (struck) and ‘Andrew Crawford’. The chart links four generations: (1) Maria Ann Hedley + her three husbands — Perry, Mauger, and finally Col. Wm. Fuller of Beaufort; (2) her children Benjamin Dunkin Perry + Roda; (3) the Perry → FitzSimons union (Mary Anne Perry + Samuel Gaillard FitzSimons Sr.) and their children; (4) those children’s spouses and grandchildren, including the compiler herself (Amy Perry FitzSimons + James P. Walker) and her line down through the Walker / McEwan descendants. The surname is ‘Hedley’ (not Hadley); the upper-right marginal note reads clearly ‘the 3rd was Mr. Wm. Fuller of Beaufort being the 3rd husband.’ ‘Minnie’ here is Mary Annie FitzSimons (the compiler’s sister, the younger ‘Minnie’, married Donald McKay Allston Sr.). ‘Donald Allston’ (the elder Donald) is written below the surname ‘Gaillard’ / ‘Allston’. The compiler’s brother Samuel Gaillard FitzSimons Jr. m. Mary Hodge. The page is the second half of a chart begun on the facing page (p646).
the chart is densely written and reuses given names — Amy, James Pickens, Mary Ann, Donald — across multiple generations, so cross-referencing each name’s position is essential. Several pencil markings in the upper-left margin appear to be erased/struck-through earlier attempts at fragments of the chart (a partial “Tabor” or similar) and have been omitted from the body transcription. This sheet appears to be the right-hand half of a genealogy begun on page 646.
