A hand-drawn pencil pedigree chart, faint and rubbed in places. Left-to-right generation flow, with curly brackets grouping spouses to their children. The chart records the seven children of Mary Anne Perry (the compiler’s mother “Minnie”) and Samuel Gaillard FitzSimons Sr. — that is, the compiler Amy and her siblings — together with their respective spouses and grandchildren.

Top of page — the parents (Generation 1 of this chart):

Mary Annie Perry

Samuel Gaillard FitzSimons

Top center, a small bracketed group annotated “died in early childhood”:

Dunkin Perry [pencil capital reads as “H” but is Amy’s open-top D — cf. the canonical family-Bible record on p630 and Amy’s memoir Book 2, p7]

Thomas Porcher

Samuel Cashell [= Samuel Cashel FitzSimons]

[Three of Amy’s seven listed siblings — Dunkin Perry (b. 1893, d. 1895), Thomas Porcher, and Samuel Cashel FitzSimons — did not survive to maturity; this bracketed group memorializes them.]

Four main branches (Generation 2 — the surviving children), each with spouse and issue:

First branch (upper left) — Amy Perry FitzSimons:

Amy Perry FitzSimons    James Pickens Walker

[Bracketed children:]

Amy — died in infancy

James Pickens — B. Jan 5, 1912

Emma Dee — B. Oct 18, 1915

Mary Anne — B. June 8, 1918

Second branch — Theodore Barker FitzSimons:

Theodore Barker FitzSimons    Clara Hamilton Mueller

[Bracketed children:]

Theodore Barker

Clara Mather

Ann Sabina [uncertain — possibly Sabrina]

Amy Perry

William Huger

Third branch (right) — Mary Annie FitzSimons:

Mary Annie FitzSimons    Donald McKay Allston

[Bracketed children:]

Amy FitzSimons

Amarintha Theodora

Donald McKay

[This is the Allston branch that recurs on p576 — Mary FitzSimons Allston m. Donald McKay Allston, whose son Donald McKay Allston Jr. became trust officer at C&S Bank in Charleston in 1957 and married Marguerita FitzSimons of Hendersonville.]

Fourth branch (lower left) — Samuel Gaillard FitzSimons (Jr.):

Samuel Gaillard FitzSimons    Mary Hall [Saddler] [wife’s surname uncertain — pencil rubbed]

[Bracketed children:]

Samuel Gaillard

Mary Ann

Grace

[At lower right, faintly:] note 8.

AI Notes

Hand-drawn pencil pedigree chart, faint and partly rubbed, showing the seven children of Mary Anne Perry ‘Minnie’ + Samuel Gaillard FitzSimons Sr. — i.e., the compiler Amy FitzSimons Walker’s parents, her own generation. Four branching brackets show Amy, Theodore Barker, Mary Annie and Samuel Gaillard (Jr.) with their spouses and offspring; a smaller bracketed group at top center holds three siblings (Dunkin Perry, Thomas Porcher, Samuel Cashel) labelled ‘died in early childhood.’ Key names: Theodore Barker; Donald McKay Allston (matching the p576 newspaper clipping); Amarintha Theodora; Emma Dee b. Oct 18 1915; Thomas Porcher; Samuel Cashell (= Samuel Cashel). The bracketing makes plain that this is the compiler’s own family — Amy and her siblings and their children. ‘note 8’ at lower right is a workbook cross-reference.

The chart is the compiler’s own family — Amy + her siblings + their issue. The Allston names match the C&S Bank newspaper clipping on p576. The wife’s surname “Saddler” in the Samuel Gaillard branch is uncertain — the pencil is so faint there that only one or two letters are sharply legible.
