Hardy Caldwell, J.B. Henderson, Edward R. Inman, Paul Jones, Finley Pace, Trueman Westmoreland and Dr. James L. Winstead, Jr.

Retiring directors are Winfield D. Miller, a former president of the club; Robert J. Swackhamer and William H. Waggoner.

AI Notes

Three clippings pasted on the album page, all from the Hendersonville Times-News, all annotated in blue ballpoint by the compiler with the publication date. Upper left: a column article “FitzSimons Installed As President” set over a small “Weather — Thursday” box giving the day’s high, low, 6 p.m. reading and rainfall, plus the previous night’s low and today’s noon reading. Upper right (overlapping): the same head-and-shoulders Navy portrait of AQF3 Frank I. FitzSimons III used on page 604, with the date “Oct. 17, 1970” written above it in blue ink. Centre/right: a larger newspaper photograph showing three men in suits at a “KIWANIS CLUB / HENDERSONVILLE / NORTH CAROLINA” banner, captioned “FRANK L. FITZSIMONS, JR. (center) is handed the gavel of authority…”. Beside the photo caption, in blue ink, the compiler has written “Oct. 2, 1970”. The incoming directors list reads “Hardy Caldwell, J.B. Hen-derson, Edward R. Inman, Paul Jones, Finley Pace, Trueman Westmoreland and Dr. James L. Winstead, Jr.” — with the typesetter’s hyphenated line-break “Hardy Caldwell, J.B. Hen-derson” forming a single newspaper line. Mrs. Marvin Folger is listed among the people (she accompanied her husband).

Editorial note: the incoming-directors list reads “Hardy Caldwell, J.B. Hen-derson, Edward R. Inman, Paul Jones, Finley Pace, Trueman Westmoreland and Dr. James L. Winstead, Jr.,” with the hyphenated line break “Hen-/derson” splitting the surname between two newsprint lines.
