VFW Honors FitzSimons, Elects Ray
Charles Lenoir Ray, senior vice-commander of Hedrick-Rhodes Post 5206, was elected post commander last night at a VFW membership meeting.
In a special ceremony, Frank W. FitzSimons was cited as “Man Of The Year.”
Ray succeeds Grady T. Carland as post commander.
Other officers elected are Arch de Castrique, senior vice-commander; Manuel Torres, junior vice-commander; Charles Worley, quartermaster; Aiken Pace, post surgeon; Rev. Major Edwards, chaplain; Frank Coiner, judge advocate; and Edward Mottsman.

AI Notes
A clipping mounted by itself on the page, framed by the album mat. Above the text is a half-column head-and-shoulders portrait captioned ‘FRANK L. FITZSIMONS.’ The headline reads ‘VFW Honors FitzSimons, Elects Ray.’ Article describes Frank W. FitzSimons (likely a misprint for Frank L. FitzSimons Sr.) being named ‘Man Of The Year’ by the Hedrick-Rhodes VFW Post 5206. Same clipping is reproduced in miniature on page 560.
The “Frank W. FitzSimons” of the article is almost certainly Frank L. FitzSimons Sr. of Hendersonville; the same honor and post are described elsewhere in the scrapbook under the correct initials.
