Following the sermon, Dr. Allison was examined by a panel of four co-consecrators, including Bishop Temple; the Rt. Rev. George M. Alexander, retired bishop of the Diocese of Upper South Carolina; the Rt. Rev. Richard B. Martin, retired national executive for ministries; and the Rt. Rev. B. Sidney Sanders, bishop coadjutor of the Diocese of East Carolina.
Once he had been examined, Dr. Allison knelt before the altar and was surrounded by the 30 bishops present, who laid their hands on his head for the official consecration.
