A standard Episcopal Litany of Intercession from the Book of Common Prayer, with a specific petition inserted for Christopher FitzSimons, the chosen bishop. The full printed text is visible in the scan and is reproduced here only in summary: the litany follows the usual responsorial pattern (we pray to you, O Lord / Lord, hear our prayer) and intercedes successively for the Church, its ministers, those who do not yet believe, the peace of the world, those in positions of public trust, the relief of the poor and suffering, the forgiveness of sins, and the communion of saints.

AI Notes

Pages 4–5 of the printed program from the 1982 investiture of Christopher FitzSimons Allison as Twelfth Bishop of South Carolina. The two facing pages carry the Litany of Intercession that follows the Presiding Bishop’s call to prayer at the end of page 3 (‘All kneel for the Litany.’), and lead into the prayers and lessons that continue on page 6.

The litany continues on the following page (299), where the scan picks up mid-petition with “or grief, but life eternal, / we pray to you, O Lord.”
