Transcription

A handwritten letter page in cursive ink. The upper portion transcribes a tombstone inscription, followed by a genealogical query about the children. The lower half of the page is blank.

Don’t [smile?] if I enclosed this it was on tomb stone too To the memory of a tender parent Mrs Susanna Milliken — she was born at Belfast Ireland and died 21 August 1808 in the 48th year of her age and of an affectionate Mother Edward Milliken a native of Belfast Ireland, who died 9th June 1808 in the 28 year of his age.

Where did the seven sons come in? John isn’t mentioned on tomb stone There were evidently two Edwards Edward & Edward Patrick, William Hunter, Mathew Irvine, & Adam Tims

AI Notes

Continuation of a handwritten letter in cursive. The writer relays two tombstone inscriptions — for Mrs. Susanna Milliken (born Belfast, Ireland; died 21 August 1808 in her 48th year) and for Edward Milliken (a native of Belfast, died 9 June 1808 in his 28th year, described as her affectionate son) — then queries how the seven sons fit in, noting that John isn’t on the tombstone and that there were evidently two Edwards: Edward and Edward Patrick, plus William Hunter, Mathew Irvine, and Adam Tims.
