A single sheet typed in faded green ribbon ink. The text occupies the upper half of the sheet; the signature is in blue fountain pen.

Waynesville, N.C. Sept. 10, 1960

Dear Cousin Amy:

I am returning the family tree and notes which you so kindly let me have to copy. I have enclosed a typed copy of the notes for you.

Some parts I found difficult to read even with Mother’s help so please forgive the errors that I know must exist.

We enjoyed our visit with you both and hope Cousin Puck is continuing to keep well.

I do hope we can see you again before you go home. Mother always enjoys seeing her family and since we live rather isolated from most of them we always want to say at least hello when you are as near as Hendersonville.

Thank you again for your kindness. I made a copy for Aunt Virginia too since I felt as if they would like to have this information.

Sincerely,

[Margaret?] [flourished cursive signature in blue ink — letterforms read as M-a-y-(rg?) with a long terminal flourish; not resolvable]

AI Notes

A single sheet typed in green ribbon ink on cream paper, dated Waynesville, N.C., Sept. 10, 1960 (with the day “10” inserted in pen) and signed in blue fountain pen with a flourished cursive signature. The given-name signature reads as “Margaret” or similar — letterforms M-a-y-(rg?) — heavily stylized and not resolvable with certainty; recorded as [Margaret?]. The writer is not otherwise named on the page. The cover letter accompanies a typed transcription the cousin’s mother helped her produce of family-tree notes that Cousin Amy (Amy FitzSimons Walker, the compiler) had lent. The “family tree and notes” are the memorandum by Mary Anne Perry FitzSimons (“Minnie”) that begins on the following pages (book-002 pp31–38). “Cousin Puck” is James Pickens Walker Sr. (1883–1960), Amy’s husband — this letter is dated barely two months before Puck’s death (19 Nov 1960). “Aunt Virginia” referenced at the close is presumably the cousin’s aunt who would also like a copy of the typescript.
