AI Notes
An album page with two pasted items. Upper centre: a typewritten ‘order’ on white paper mounted on a pale-blue paper backing, styled as a mock court decree (printed but never filed) from the North Valley Hospital, Flathead County, Montana announcing the birth of ‘Baby Boy McEwan’ on 23 October 1974 and decreeing he ‘shall be forever known as CHRISTOPHER MICKLER McEWAN.’ Parents named are Chris G. McEwan and Cynthia E. McEwan — i.e., the compiler Amy’s grandson Christopher Gaillard McEwan (b. 27 June 1942, Hunter McEwan’s uncle on the Mary Ann Walker line) and his then-wife Cynthia. Signed by attending physician R. Wade Covill, M.D. Lower left: a small French air-mail envelope franked with five 0.60-franc green Marianne (Bequet) stamps cancelled at 58 NEVERS GARE / NIÈVRE, 12-4-1976, addressed in blue ballpoint to Mrs. J. P. Walker Jr. (i.e., Ann Seymour Knight Walker, the compiler’s daughter-in-law) at 4275 Garibaldi Ave., Jacksonville, Fla. The pencilled annotation along the lower edge — in the compiler’s hand — labels it ‘Birth announcement of Eric Gramond,’ referring to Eric Gramond (b. 6 April 1976, son of Dee Corbell and Claude Aimé-Gramond of Nevers); the birth-announcement card itself is mounted on the facing page 420.
The “③” at the upper left of the address block is the sender’s own enumeration — Dee and Claude Gramond apparently mailed three (or more) identical announcements to American family. The recipient, Ann Seymour Knight Walker (“Mrs. James Pickens Walker Jr.”), was the compiler Amy’s daughter-in-law (wife of Amy’s son Jim Walker Jr.) and Dee Corbell’s aunt-by-marriage. The card enclosed in this envelope is mounted on the facing page 420.
