AI Notes

A full-page newspaper advertisement for Pan American Bank of Orlando, N.A., clipped and mounted singly on the album page. A black-and-white photograph at the top shows two businessmen in suits — one holding an open folder — standing inside what appears to be a sporting-goods store, with a wall of mounted tennis racquets and other sports equipment visible behind them. The bold display headline ‘AS A BUSINESSMAN… STRAIGHT TALK LENDING IS YOUR LANGUAGE, TOO.’ and two columns of body copy fill the lower half. The bank’s stylized ‘P/pyramid’ logo appears between the two columns; an Equal Housing Lender logo appears at lower left. A two-line ink (blue pen) annotation in the lower right margin reads ‘Oct 25 1977 / Orlando Sentinel’ (with ‘Orlando Sentinel’ underlined). Below the bank name, in fine print: ‘Main Office: 250 North Orange Avenue, Orlando, Florida 32801 (305) 841-2610 / McCoy Facility: Naval Training Center Annex at McCoy, Orlando, Florida 32809 (305) 851-4610 Member FDIC.’

Editorial note: the FitzSimons / Walker family’s Florida residence in the mid-20th century centered on Jacksonville, but the compiler’s granddaughter Nancy Fletcher McEwan (b. 1946) was born and lived in Orlando — see the family-group sheet on p610. This Orlando Sentinel clipping likely entered the album through the McEwan/Orlando branch. The “McCoy Facility” address refers to the Naval Training Center Orlando’s McCoy Annex (the former McCoy Air Force Base), in operation 1968–1995.
