Book 1, Page 311 ·1856–1958
Transcription
The page combines six mounted photographs of three generations of FitzSimonses with a dense, central column of cursive-ink genealogy in the compiler’s hand. Above the genealogy is a small newspaper-clipping fragment about Hazel Duke FitzSimons of Columbia.
Top — heading of the genealogical chart (cursive ink)

[The “4th” notation above “Christopher Fitz Simons” identifies this as the fourth-generation Christopher, viz. Christopher FitzSimons Jr. “Kit”, son of Dr. Christopher FitzSimons (3rd). Family tradition counted: (1) the emigrant Christopher b. 1762, (2) his son Christopher b. ~1789, (3) Dr. Christopher b. 1826, (4) Christopher “Kit” b. 1856.]

[The “1st” / “2nd” annotation marks two successive marriages of Christopher F.S. (6th); the third and fourth children listed (Caroline Elizabeth, Robert Cleland) are children of the second marriage to Hazel Duke. The “4)” beside “Robert Cleland 1958” is the compiler’s later inserted numeration; original sequence is slightly muddled.]
Centre column — small mounted clipping fragment (newsprint glued to page)
Although not taking the top honor at Kingstree High School, Hazel, now Mrs. Christopher Fitzsimons of Columbia was an honor graduate and went on to the University of South Carolina to become the second member of the family named to Who’s Who. She was also elected to Alpha Kappa Gamma, national leadership society.
[The clipping is undated; it post-dates Christopher F.S. (6th)'s second marriage to Hazel Duke. “Mrs. Christopher Fitzsimons of Columbia” in the late-mid-twentieth century is Hazel Duke FitzSimons, second wife of the Gen-6 Christopher.]

- J. Richard Allison 3rd

[The “6½)” is the compiler’s later, slightly cramped insertion. James Richard Allison Jr. is the son of Susan Milliken FitzSimons and Dr. James Richard Allison named in the left column above; his marriage to Elizabeth McElveen extends the chart one more generation.]

AI Notes
Album page laid out with six mounted photographs and a central column of cursive ink genealogy. The subject of the chart is Christopher FitzSimons Jr. ‘Kit’ (b. 26 Jan 1856, d. 8 Oct 1925), the cottonseed-oil pioneer who rose to district manager of the Southern Cotton Oil Co. in Columbia — son of Dr. Christopher FitzSimons (3rd). His wife is Frances Motte Huger (b. 10 Jan 1863, d. 11 Nov 1937). The chart enumerates two of their children, Susan Milliken FitzSimons (m. Dr. James Richard Allison) and Christopher FitzSimons (5th) (m. Nathalie Heyward), with grandchildren and great-grandchildren down to 1958.
The cabinet cards at top and centre-right depict Christopher FitzSimons Jr. “Kit” (1856–1925), the cottonseed-oil executive of Columbia, S.C., and his wife Frances Motte Huger with their children — anchoring the Columbia branch of the family. Kit’s career arc ran from Carolina Military Institute cadet through Southern Cotton Oil → Virginia-Carolina Chemical Co. → Wesson Oil district manager.
