The People respond: AMEN.
A Bible is brought from the Altar and held before the Bishop, who, laying a hand upon it, takes the oath as follows

So help me God.
The People respond: AMEN.
The Seating
The Presiding Bishop and the Warden now escort the new Diocesan to the Cathedra.
The Dean of the Cathedral Church, meeting the Bishop at the Cathedra, says In the name of this Cathedral Church, and on behalf of the people of this Diocese, I install you, Christopher FitzSimons, in the chair appointed to your office. May the Lord stir up in you the flame of holy charity, and the power of faith that overcomes the world.
The People respond: AMEN.
The Bishop sits, and the People offer their acclamations and applause. A Fanfare is sounded.
Afterwards, the Bishop stands and says
The peace of the Lord be always with you.

[Christopher FitzSimons Allison (b. 1927) is the album’s most prominent late-20th-century kinsman: a great-grandson of the Columbia cottonseed-oil pioneer Christopher “Kit” FitzSimons (1856–1925), through Allison’s mother Susan Milliken FitzSimons. Educated at Sewanee, Virginia Theological Seminary, and Oxford (Ph.D. 1958), Allison was consecrated XII Bishop of South Carolina in September 1980; see pages 305, 321, 323-325 for the contemporary news coverage of the consecration this order of service belongs to.]

The People greet one another in the Name of the Lord.
The Holy Communion
The Offering is appointed for Bishop Allison’s Discretionary Fund.
At the Offertory, Anthem Though I speak with the tongues of men … Edward C. Bairstow Text: I Corinthians 13
The Lord be with you. People: And with thy spirit. Celebrant Lift up your hearts. People: We lift them up unto the Lord. Celebrant Let us give thanks unto our Lord God. People: It is meet and right so to do.
The Celebrant proceeds
It is very meet, right, and our bounden duty, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto thee, O Lord, holy Father, almighty, everlasting God.
Because thou didst give Jesus Christ, thine only Son, to be born for us; who, by the mighty power of the Holy Ghost, was made very Man of the substance of the Virgin Mary his mother; that we might be delivered from the bondage of sin, and receive power to become thy children.
Therefore with Angels and Archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify thy glorious Name; evermore praising thee, and saying,
