The children are very fond of her — but Theodore told his Mother that “Miss Emmie is quite rude in school sometimes.” Theodore as you may guess, requires to be kept in order — Christie and Fanny will be down soon to attend Lucy’s wedding, and spend Christmas — Fanny is somewhat better lately — but is very frail still. Lucy is going through all the “foolishness” of preparing to be married — She takes a very quiet and straight forward way through life — Belle is devoted to her, and able to do a great deal in the way of practical comfort as well as all the rest — Lucy will be married in Church, in a veil & regular bridal fixing
AI Notes
A single manuscript sheet numbered ‘2’ at the top center, continuing a letter. The writer reports on Theodore’s behavior in school (and his complaint that ‘Miss Emmie is quite rude in school sometimes’), the impending arrival of Christie and Fanny for Lucy’s wedding and Christmas, Fanny’s continuing frailty, and Lucy’s quiet preparations for a church wedding with veil and bridal finery, with Belle devoted to her sister. Likely a continuation of the November 22, 1876 letter from pages 205–206.
